Landlord wants six months up front — is that normal now?

Found a two-room flat in Vera, and I like it. The landlord wants six months paid up front plus a deposit. Friends say one month used to be normal. Has it changed?

Common with foreigners, not a rule. Offer three months and a written contract in both languages — most landlords agree. Whatever you pay, pay against a signed receipt, never in cash on trust.

Adding one thing: photograph the meters on the day you get the keys, with the landlord in the picture if you can.

We paid three months in Saburtalo, in lari — the owners offered it themselves once we asked.

Ask what the winter bills were last year. Gas in January is where a cheap flat stops being cheap.
